JSNA logoWhat is a Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA)?

JSNA is a City-wide assessment of the current and future health and social care needs of all local people. This data analysis is used to help to determine what actions partners need to take, to meet health and social care needs, to address the root causes of health and wellbeing, and to reduce inequalities between different groups such as age, race and gender. The JSNA should help to inform partners to make decisions that enable Wulfrunians to live longer, healthier, active lives.

Governance of the JSNA

Health and Wellbeing Together is the forum where key leaders from the health, care and wider system come together to work collectively to reduce health inequalities, support the development of improved and joined up health and social care services and set the strategic direction to improve the health and wellbeing of the local population. It is the name given to the City of Wolverhampton Health and Wellbeing Board, a statutory board established under the Health & Social Care Act 2012.

Health and Wellbeing Together has a statutory responsibility for the JSNA, and the Board receives regular ‘What’s New in the JSNA’ updates at each meeting. The JSNA, alongside the views of local people, wider community feedback and other relevant data is also used to inform the Board’s Joint Local Health and Wellbeing Strategy priorities and Board decisions. You can access the strategy here .

OneWolverhampton is Wolverhampton’s place-based partnership and is responsible for designing and delivering health and social care services. OneWolverhampton’s Place Development Group is responsible for the operational governance of the JSNA.
